Outreach Standards
Your company is the caller, and the law treats it that way. These are the minimum standards our Usage Policy expects. They are a summary, not legal advice; your company should keep its own compliance program and get its own counsel.
Calls and texts
- Check every number against the National Do Not Call Registry, any applicable state list, and your own internal do-not-call list before you dial. JotMind’s flag is a convenience, not a registry scrub.
- Treat any number found for an owner, principal or manager as possibly a personal mobile number. Business-to-business exemptions may not apply.
- No autodialers, prerecorded or artificial voices, or automated texts to mobile numbers without the prior express consent the Telephone Consumer Protection Act requires.
- Call only between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the called party’s local time, or narrower hours where state law requires.
- Say who you are, which company you are with, and why you are calling, at the start.
- When anyone asks you to stop, stop, and record it the same day.
- Under federal law, a call to a number on the Do Not Call Registry can cost up to $500, and up to $1,500 if the violation is willful (47 U.S.C. § 227).
- Accurate “From” lines and honest subject lines.
- Your company’s valid physical postal address in every commercial email.
- A clear way to opt out, honored within 10 business days (CAN-SPAM, 15 U.S.C. § 7701 et seq.; California Business and Professions Code § 17529.5).
Advertising and visits
- Include your contractor license number in solicitations where your state requires it.
- Never misstate a roof’s condition, urgency, warranty status, or any affiliation.
- Keep records of your outreach and opt-outs for at least two years.
